Anime Expeditions Traits & Trait Tier List (September 2026)

All 17 traits in Anime Expeditions with their exact effects, roll chances and pity counts — plus which trait to actually put on each unit. Traits are rerolled with Trait Crystals, and the fastest free source of those is the latest codes.

The 30-second version

  • Best trait overall: Primordial (+35% DMG, -15% SPA, +20% Range). Unbound hits harder at +350% DMG but locks the unit to one placement.
  • Cheapest S-tier to chase: Draconic — pity at only 300 rolls.
  • Do not sleep on: Investor (+25% Income) on your farm unit. It speeds up every expedition you run afterwards.
  • Reroll off immediately: Enlightenment. It goes completely dead at max level.
  • New in Summer Siege: Trait Swapping gives each unit two available trait slots. Swap outside stages; pick the slot you want before rerolling.

Trait tier list

SS — reroll targets

All four have a pity counter, so they are guaranteed eventually. These are the only traits worth dumping crystals into a main carry for.

Unbound

+350% DMG, -5% SPA, +10% Range

0.10% roll chance · guaranteed at 1,500 rolls

The biggest damage multiplier in the game by a huge margin. The catch nearly every trait list leaves out: Unbound locks the unit to a single placement, so it belongs on a stationary carry, never on a unit you reposition.

Primordial

+35% DMG, -15% SPA, +20% Range

0.20% roll chance · guaranteed at 750 rolls

The best all-round trait. Damage, attack speed and range with no downside — on a unit you need to move, this beats Unbound outright.

Forsaken

+35% Crit DMG, +35% Crit Chance, +10% Range

0.30% roll chance · guaranteed at 500 rolls

Best on units that already have crit scaling or crit equipment. On a unit with no crit synergy it underperforms Primordial.

Draconic

+20% DMG, +50% DoT DMG, -10% Unit Cost

0.50% roll chance · guaranteed at 300 rolls

The cheapest S-tier to pity at 300 rolls. The -10% unit cost matters more than it looks in early expeditions where placement gold is tight, and the DoT bonus is huge on burn/poison kits.

AA — realistic best case

No pity, but 20–40x more likely than S tier. Landing one of these on a carry is a perfectly good place to stop.

Precision 2

+20% Crit Chance, +10% Crit DMG

4.00% roll chance · no pity

The realistic target for most players. Strong on crit-scaling carries and 40x more likely than any S-tier trait.

Bolt

-15% SPA

4.00% roll chance · no pity

The best attack-speed trait you can realistically roll. Excellent on chip-damage carries like 8th Sword (Berserk) whose damage ramps per takedown.

Optics

+25% Range

3.00% roll chance · no pity

Undervalued. On supports and crowd-control units, range is uptime — more range means more enemies inside your slow or stagger for longer.

Investor

+25% Income

2.00% roll chance · no pity

Does nothing for damage and is still one of the most valuable traits in the game — put it on your farm unit and every later expedition gets faster.

BB — fine while you save

One modest effect each. Leave these on units you have not committed to and spend your crystals elsewhere.

Limit Breaker

+15% DMG

6.00% roll chance · no pity

The best of the plain-damage traits and a perfectly fine resting point on a mid-tier unit while you save crystals for your main carry.

Precision 1

+10% Crit Chance, +5% Crit DMG

6.00% roll chance · no pity

A weaker Precision 2. Keep it only until you roll the upgrade.

Strength 2

+10% DMG

7.00% roll chance · no pity

Filler damage. Acceptable on a unit you have not committed to yet.

Speed 2

-10% SPA

7.00% roll chance · no pity

Filler attack speed — a strictly worse Bolt.

Range 2

+10% Range

7.00% roll chance · no pity

Filler range — a strictly worse Optics.

CC — replace these

Over half the trait pool by roll rate. Fine on a freshly unlocked unit, worth rerolling the moment you have crystals.

Strength 1

+5% DMG

14.64% roll chance · no pity

The most common trait in the pool. Replace as soon as you have crystals.

Speed 1

-5% SPA

14.63% roll chance · no pity

Placeholder only.

Range 1

+5% Range

14.63% roll chance · no pity

Placeholder only.

Enlightenment

+50% EXP Gain

9.00% roll chance · no pity

The trap trait. It reads like a progression booster, but it becomes completely dead the moment that unit hits max level — and it costs you the trait slot on the way there.

All 17 traits: effects and odds

Every trait in the pool, sorted by rarity. The four with a pity counter are guaranteed once you hit that number of rolls on a single unit.

How to reroll traits

Trait rerolling costs 1 Trait Crystal per roll. Summer Siege added a second trait slot per unit, but each roll still replaces the selected slot outright — there is no lock system for traits the way there is for equipment stats.

  1. 1

Open your unit collection or the Trait Reroll upgrade area and select the unit you want to reroll.

  2. 2

Choose which of the unit’s two trait slots you want to work on. Trait Swapping is disabled while a stage is in progress.

  3. 3

Check your Trait Crystal count first. Rolling with 20 crystals on a carry is how people end up stuck on a C-tier trait.

  4. 4

Redeem the current codes for free Trait Crystals before you start — the current active codes include Trait Crystal rewards.

  5. 5

Roll. Each crystal rerolls the trait completely at the odds in the table above.

  6. 6

Stop when you hit A tier or better on a unit you actually field. Chasing Unbound from scratch is a 1,500-roll commitment.

Best trait for each unit

Anime Expeditions renames its characters, so the unit you are looking for may be listed under a different name than the anime it comes from. Both names are in the table.

UnboundPrimordialBest overall unit and a stationary backline carry, so Unbound's placement lock costs you nothing.

Gowther / The Seven Deadly Sins

PrimordialOpticsA range and crowd-control specialist — more range means more enemies held per placement.

Ramen Guy

Teuchi / Naruto

DraconicLimit BreakerStrong early/mid DPS and one of the first units worth building; Draconic is the cheapest S-tier to pity at 300 rolls.

Lady Giant (Envy)

Diane / The Seven Deadly Sins

ForsakenPrecision 2High raw damage ceiling against grouped enemies and bosses — crit scaling pays off on big hits.

Traits FAQ

What is the best trait in Anime Expeditions?

Unbound is the strongest trait on paper at +350% DMG, -5% SPA and +10% Range, but it locks the unit to a single placement — so it only belongs on a stationary backline carry. For any unit you need to reposition, Primordial (+35% DMG, -15% SPA, +20% Range) is the better best-in-slot because it has no downside.

How do you reroll traits in Anime Expeditions?

Traits are rerolled with Trait Crystals, at 1 crystal per roll. Since Summer Siege (Update 2.0), every unit has two available trait slots and you can switch between them from the Trait Reroll upgrade area or Unit menu. A reroll still replaces the selected slot, so choose the slot carefully before spending crystals.

What are the odds of getting Unbound in Anime Expeditions?

Unbound has a 0.10% roll chance with a pity counter at 1,500 rolls, meaning it is guaranteed by roll 1,500 if you have not hit it earlier. The other pity traits are Primordial (0.20%, pity 750), Forsaken (0.30%, pity 500) and Draconic (0.50%, pity 300).

What is the best trait for Yuta in Anime Expeditions?

Yuta is Cursed Student (True Love) in game. Primordial is the best realistic trait for it — its reliable AoE scales with raw damage, and Primordial adds attack speed and range on top. Limit Breaker (+15% DMG) is the budget option while you save Trait Crystals.

Is Enlightenment a good trait?

No. Enlightenment gives +50% EXP Gain, which sounds like a progression booster, but it becomes completely dead once that unit reaches max level — and it occupies the trait slot the whole way there. Reroll it off any unit you plan to keep.

How many traits are in Anime Expeditions?

There are 17 traits, ranging from Strength 1 at +5% DMG (a 14.64% roll) up to Unbound at +350% DMG (a 0.10% roll). Four of them — Unbound, Primordial, Forsaken and Draconic — have pity counters.
