Anime Expeditions mixes gacha summoning with classic tower defense: summon anime-inspired heroes, place them to defend against enemy waves, and upgrade them through traits and stats. This guide covers everything a new player needs to start strong.

Summon on the Beginner Banner
The Beginner Banner has the best value with a low pity, so it's far more likely to give you a strong early unit than the Standard Banner. Spend your first Gems here.
Push Story / Expedition mode
Story progression unlocks new maps, pays out Gems, and gives reroll materials. Keep advancing the story as your main source of income and content.
Optimize your carry's stats
Units roll random base stats. Use Stat Rerolls to improve them and Stat Locks to protect the good rolls. Do this for your main carry, not every unit.

Clear daily Challenges for evolution materials and farm King's Tomb Mastery for fast Gems. Consistent daily play compounds quickly.
Currencies & Resources Explained
Knowing what each resource does — and what to spend it on — is the biggest early-game skill.
💎 Gems
The main summon currency. Earn from daily quests, achievements, level milestones and story clears. Spend on the Beginner Banner first.
🪙 Gold
Used to level units and upgrade equipment. You'll always want more — Ramen Guy helps generate it.
🔮 Trait Crystals
Reroll unit traits (passive buffs). Cap ~40/day. SAVE these for endgame Secret/Mythic units.
🔒 Stat & Equipment Locks / Rerolls
Reroll a unit's random stats or gear, and lock the good rolls so they aren't lost. Use on your main carry.
Traits Matter More Than You Think
Every unit can carry a trait — a passive modifier rerolled with Trait Crystals. The best traits are game-changing, so once you have an endgame carry, funnel your saved crystals into it:
- UNBOUND — the top trait: roughly +350% damage, faster attacks and extra range. It outclasses everything else.
- Primordial, Forsaken, Draconic — the next tier of strong multi-stat traits.
Because good traits are rare rolls, only reroll on units you plan to keep long-term. This is the number one currency mistake new players make.
Best Units to Aim For Early
Prioritize damage dealers first, then add a support. If you reroll, you\'re hoping to open with one of the top carries. Full rankings are on our tier list, but for a new account:
- Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) — excellent early/mid DPS and easy to build.
- Lady Giant (Envy) — huge damage ceiling against groups and bosses.
- Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) — the best support; slows keep enemies in range longer.
- True Saint (Holy) — a dependable free starter to carry you through the opening hours.
- Ramen Guy — the top Gold farm unit; speeds up your entire economy.
Beginner FAQ
Should I reroll in Anime Expeditions?
Rerolling is optional but recommended for a strong start. Redeem the codes for free Gems, summon on the Beginner Banner, and if you land an S or high A-tier unit early you can skip a lot of grinding. Otherwise, True Saint (Holy) is a solid free starter to progress with.
What is the fastest way to farm Gems?
Once you unlock it, King's Tomb Mastery gives around 100 Gems per run in under two minutes, making it the best repeatable Gem farm. Daily quests, achievements and level milestones also give steady Gems.
Should I use my Trait Crystals right away?
No — save Trait Crystals for your endgame Secret and Mythic units. Rerolling traits on starter units is wasted currency because you will replace those units quickly.
What are the best units to build first?
Prioritize damage dealers like Flame Emperor, Lady Giant and Ice Queen early. Add a support like Salmon Sorcerer once you have one. See our tier list for the full rankings.
